So, I decided to attend a local concert this evening after seeing a flyer about it on Instagram, which featured one of my favorite singers to watch. I have been extremely caught up working on my Master’s degree lately and what better way to unwind a bit by embracing some great live music. Not to mention a few potential-deadly car accidents within hours apart this past week really reminded me to stay focus on the positive outlooks of life. Thank God for Jesus right? Music has it’s ways of telling us that everything will be okay and reminds us to enjoy life’s blessings. Simone Skye blessed us all this evening with her presence, displaying her vocals and sly dance moves. It brought me joy to watch a friend and former “co-worker” so to say, remind me of why music became so essential to me in the first place. Simone’s intro song was her rendition of the classic hit by Ginuwine entitled So Anxious but with a twist, which I have always believed was a great and fun tactic to grab the crowds attention. She then followed through with her Detroit rapping ways with an original, bossy and asshole-ish record called P.E.M.D.A.S (Please Excuse My Dope Ass Swag), which was a single off her Who Is Simone Skye? mixtape. The bass filled beat produced by Joey Ave drives out the lyrics to become a def banger. Next was a new record to my ears entitled Everything Lover, which I truly believe is very promising going into her upcoming project. Last but not least, we got an exclusive sneak peak of her unreleased song Showstopper and I must say, wow!! Not going to spoil the news to soon, but look forward to a fast-paced, high energy record showing another side of Simone Skye. I am extremely proud of all your efforts as a prominent, growing-woman and gracious artist from the outside looking in and wish you nothing but blessings to come!
